We create unique rituals for trans, non-binary, genderqueer, and gender non-conforming people. These rituals include affirming life cycle events like name changes, stepping into your true gender identity, coming out, commitment ceremonies, coming of age, marriage, funerals, baby namings, and more. We also work with spiritual and faith based organizations to make existing rituals more inclusive. Black Lives Matter Programs

  1. In Loving Memory of Yodassa Williams we aim to keep her vision alive! She was focused on creating spaces for Black femme and nonbinary writers to thrive. At the time of her death she was partnering with Gender Illumination to launch Writers Emerging 2.0 - a virtual and wilderness writing retreat series. The goal of this program is to bring Black queer women and nonbinary people in the Bay Area spiritual and career elevating opportunities. We want to make sure this program can be a reality. To do so we are actively fundraising and seeking continued leadership for this project. Please consider donating today.

  2. Black Trans Direct Aid: This program was founded during the hight of the pandemic and is designed to specifically support Black trans, genderqueer, non-binary, non-conforming, agender people who are in financial crisis because of racial injustices and the lasting impact of the pandemic. We support people who are in need of immediate medical, housing, and food support. We are currently fundraising to increase the amount of financial aid we can provide. Please consider donating today.

Serving Me

The Serving Me Program is a vibrant online community that centers queer youth, queer artists, and gender nonconforming changemakers of all ages. The goal of the Serving Me Program is to challenge everything we were taught about gender norms and to illustrate that there is no one way to be non-binary or to do gender. Serving Me gives a platform for gender identity to be expressed without restrictions or limitations based on society's expectations.

Gender Blender

Gender Blender is a community committed to creating safe, awesome, fun, creative spaces for trans, gender queer, gender variant, gender nonconforming, queens, kings, and those of us that are shape shifting the gender binary.

We also serve to educate and give space to those that have always wanted to explore gender but have never before. We run workshops, play parties, events, and a Burning Man theme camp. We welcome new people and new volunteers. All genders welcome all ways and always.

Gender Blender – Mission Statement:

A community committed to the formation of brave, awesome, fun, and creative spaces for trans, gender queer, gender variant, gender nonconforming, queens, kings, and all of us that are shape-shifting the gender binary. Gender Blender is committed to raising awareness, education, social justice, and co-creating gender liberation.

Even More:

Gender Blender was launched in 2009 as a Burning Man theme camp. Since then, our mission has grown beyond the playa.

As a community, we work to serve, educate and give space to the entire gender spectrum, especially those that are exploring gender beyond the binary. Through continuously expanding in both service and celebration of gender non-conformists, we aim to provide genderqueers, gender variants, and trans individuals the support to just be themselves.

In addition to our theme camp on playa, we run workshops, facilitate educational events, play parties, and events year round. Blenders can be found facilitating discussions and providing education around gender issues throughout Northern and Southern California, Washington DC, Portland, New York, and even internationally in Canada, Greece, and Mexico. We host zoom meetings, chat groups, and offer support.

Workshops

We offer one time workshops as well as our workshop series. Gender Illumination creates unique workshops for people to explore their gender. These workshops benefit people of all genders whether you are trans, non-binary, genderqueer, cis, etc. These workshops are a brave space to explore gender and how it impacts and affects your life. Our workshop series focuses on decolonizing gender, leadership skills, anti-racism in the LGBTQ community, and ways to cope during challenging times. Our next free online workshop is March 20, 2024. Sign up today.

Public Speaking

We are partnering with Soft as a Rock to offer a unique opportunity for nonbinary, trans, genderqueer, and nonconforming people to learn new tools for Public Speaking. This is a 5 week training course with a workshop each week that is lively and interactive. There are recordings of sessions in case you miss one.
